The Karnataka Health Vision aims to ensure the provision of high-quality, equitable, accessible, and diverse health services that promote good healthcare. With this objective in mind, we have made a meaningful contribution towards upgrading the anaesthesia department at the Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS), Ballari. VIMS is a super specialty medical institution that performs an average of 15,000 surgeries annually. Through our contribution, we have provided treatment to 4,000 patients at this hospital. To address the diagnostic needs recommended by the National Health Mission (NHM), we have supplied the Central Laboratory with reagents, as per their quarterly requirements. During the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, we ensured timely provision of reagents to support increased testing capacity. As a result, the Central Lab’s daily testing of blood samples has doubled from as an average of 100-125 patients to 250 samples. Furthermore, we have also provided 12 ophthalmology equipment, which has significantly contributed to enhancing vision care services.
Our initiative to introduce smart classes in the government schools of Kodalu and Chikkanthapur has empowered approximately 1,700 students. The digital dissemination of knowledge has been a priority of our National Education Policy (NEP) of 2021, and we have aligned with this vision by introducing new teaching methodologies that incorporate audio-visual content in the classrooms. Our goal was to enhance the efficiency of teaching and ensures a seamless flow of knowledge to children. The efficacy of the smart classrooms has been widely acknowledged by the teachers and municipalities. Additionally, through our initiatives, we have made a positive impact on the lives of 300 children in nine aanganwadis. Moreover, over 1,000 students have benefited from our efforts to establish modern libraries. In line with the Karnataka Public Libraries Act of 1965, which aims to establish a state-wide library network, we have worked with Gram Panchayats to revive rural public libraries. This involved improving their infrastructure and revamping the collection of books. Our efforts align with the state government’s initiative to transform rural libraries into valuable knowledge resources for the community.
Over 30 women from rural areas in Bellary district underwent training in provisioning of sanitation services at public and private sector offices.
During the fiscal year 2021, approximately 12 lakh litres of drinking water were supplied to three villages. Through our Safe Drinking Water programme, we have been committed to ensuring the availability of safe drinking water in our DIZ villages of Chikkanthapur, Kodalu, and Anantapur for the past two years. During water-stressed months, we provide water tankers to these villages. For the year 2023-24, our plan is to install three RO water purifiers with a total capacity of 42 lakh litres of water. This initiative will benefit around 7,000 beneficiaries by providing them with clean drinking water.
As part of the programme, a total of 1,300 LED streetlights were installed, benefitting 8,000 people from three DIZ villages.
We are proud to announce that 500 athletes will have the opportunity to realise their dreams of winning an Olympic medal. As a partner of the Inspire Institute of Sports (IIS), we are committed to supporting Indian athletes in their quest for Olympic glory. India aspires to see its sportspersons standing on the podium at future Olympics, and we fully endorse and support the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) initiated by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Through collaboration with various stakeholders, we have assisted the IIS in providing high-quality infrastructure, foreign coaches, sports medicines, and equipment to facilitate the athletes’ training and development.
In collaboration with the forest department, we undertook a plantation drive along four designated areas spanning a total of 14.23 km and planted around 17 species of saplings in and around the CSR villages. We firmly believe in the importance of preserving natural ecosystems and biodiversity, which we consider to be humankind’s most valuable heritage. In line with this commitment, we conducted a detailed environmental impact assessment of our plant and developed a 44-acre green belt by planting 40,000 saplings. These endeavours are aimed at restoring and maintaining the ecological balance in our surroundings.
